A DOT Drug Test

WHAT IS IT?

What is a DOT Test?  The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires Safety Sensitive position employees to undergo a urine drug test for Preemployment, Random, Post-Accident, Reasonable Suspicion, Return to Duty, and Follow-up testing for the following categories. 

 

  • Truck Drivers
  • School Bus Drivers
  • Pilots
  • Aircraft Maintenance Crews
  • Pipeline Workers
  • Subway Operators
  • Maritime Employees
  • Ship Captains
  • Armed Transit Security Personnel
  • And Others

 

Drugs that are tested for under a DOT test are:

 

  • Cocaine
  • Amphetamine
  • Methamphetamine
  • MDMA
  • MDEA
  • MDA
  • Opioids/Morphine
  • Heroin
  • Codeine
  • Phencyclidine

 

  • A Breath Alcohol Test may be required in addition to a DOT Drug Test depending on the type test requested.
